Music TechPitch 4.5 at EMI #m4pt5 #4pt5

At EMI h.Q. in Kensington we heard 8 music related pitches. EMI themselves are getting involved in this new business arena. The event was organised by the www.2pears.com . If you do not know what these lovely Swedish ladies look like, well here they are - Rassami and Petra:

And now, the start-ups that pitched:

Dizzyjam    http://www.dizzyjam.com/
My fave. Merchandizing for bands and music. It came second. Why did I vote for it? I think that it is more profitable to have physical products to sell (merchandise) than free stuff online.

Hitlantis    http://www.hitlantis.com/
Amazing idea about presenting music choices in a visually appealing way. Making it more like a good music shop with visuals instead of just search results in a long list.

 Hooolp    http://www.hooolp.com/
These guys from Germany have a clever way of scanning your music collection then giving you loads of info and tickets to your fave bands concerts. Popular in Germany and its coming here too.

 Mobile Backstage     http://www.mobilebackstage.com/
Dynamic pitch about digital fan clubs using 3D and appealing to many fans. I think a great many 3D games players will go wild about this. Great idea and working already.

 Isophonics    http://isophonics.net/
Hard to understand pitch. It so so technical that yours truly did not "get it". Have a look at their website.

 Seevl    http://seevl.net/
Great idea of making youtube meta data for music consumption. So you could get "social" music suggestions and then what else you might like. Great idea eh?

This was the winning pitch. The idea is to make online music content easily. Thus a user can knock up a great Beatles poster for online use. Audience and judges thought this a good idea.

The panel were:

1) Danvers Baillieu- chairperson, of Bootlaw - the start-up legal people at Pinsent Mansions in TechCity

2) Bertrand Bodson, EMI Music, way high up there too

3) James Booth, Rockabox Media - he's where is all at! a media bigwig

4) Charles Grimsdale, Eden Ventures, angel investor

5) Spencer Hyman, Wow, too famous! he's here! Last.fm etc etc etc etc

6) Paul Sawers, even the next web UK Editor here

7) Sitar Teli, Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures. She looks nice eh?
